TRAVEL & BEHIND THE CAMERA
A British born photographer that was living in Norwich until January 2019. I have spent the last nine years composing images of once-thriving buildings that are now crumbled, hidden, or completely forgotten. Having stumbled across architecture photography in late 2013, I have been creating works inside abandoned spaces and hidden interiors around our cities ever since.
I began shooting my first abandoned building series ‘Decadence’ and nearly ten years on I have now built up a large portfolio taken in some of the most striking locations around the world. My primary focus is capturing rich colour palettes and straight lines in the camera, then utilising modern post-processing techniques to develop each completed image.
During the last few years I was initially living in Tbilisi, Georgia this was throughout 2019 (as I set up a photography adventure tour business) and right through the pandemic until early 2022 – when I then switched to being based out of Istanbul in Türkiye.
It was after ten months based in Melbourne; Australia and I was about to travel to the bright lights of Hong Kong that I visited a small camera store and purchased a Panasonic Lumix LX3. Just three weeks later I was standing in the dark on a bridge in Hong Kong, capturing the light trail shots that I had dreamt of just a few days earlier.
It was during 2015 that I signed a deal to work with my current art agency Goodman & Co, based in the Netherlands. They sell large format plexi-glass pieces of my artwork to galleries across Europe. I have also hosted two large exhibitions here in my home city of Norwich, including being invited to exhibit at the prestigious ‘Art Fair East’ trade show.
My work has been shortlisted in several international competitions, most recently a category winner for Architecture in both the Chromatic colour awards and the ND Awards 2017, and in March 2018, I was runner up in the Architecture category of the International Photography of the Year competition. – and recently, my image “Circle of Trust”, shot in Beirut, Lebanon in 2019 was shortlisted in the exterior category for the architectural photographer of the year for 2021.
I have been a Pro Partner for Benro tripods since 2017 and I was an ambassador for Tenba Camera Bags also for some time I also held an affiliation with 5.11 Tactical, who helped me out with luggage and clothing during 2019.
In the Autumn of 2021 – I released two books. Fabrica – A Journey Into Decay and Abandoned Lebanon (Published by Jonglez).
TRAVEL
As you will see from my portfolio, travel plays a huge part in my image-making. I have always been fascinated by different cultures, foods, textures and colours. It is this love for travel, combined with my deep passion for photography, that keeps me motivated and dedicated to putting in the long, lonely hours of research and logistical planning to then get out with the camera time and time again.
You can keep up with my travels through any of my social media accounts below, or by signing up for my newsletter on the contact page. If you have any questions at all, please do get in touch – I love hearing from people all over the world.
